MVL Telecom Launches 8 New Mobile Phones Price List from Rs 1400 to 5000

MVL Telecom Ltd, part of MVL Group of Companies, today forayed into the mobile handset market with the launch of 8 phones at a price ranging from Rs 1,400 to Rs 5,000, and targets a top line revenue of Rs 1,500 crore from the new venture within a year.

"With the launch of 8 technologically advanced innovative products at competitive price points, we are targeting to sell sell 7 million handsets in 12 months time which will rake in Rs 1,500 crore," MVL Chairman Premadip Rishi told reporters at the launch function here.

Mr Rishi said the company will invest a working capital of Rs 400 crore over the next six months. The fund will be arranged through equity and debt.

The company, which has a R&D centre operational in Gurgaon, also plans to set up another centre in South India, he said.

Mr Rishi said the company would spend about Rs 72-80 crore on R&D in a year's time.

The company has made substantial investment in four service centres--L4--across the country, he said.

Leveraging on its strength, Mr Rishi said the company is setting up a manufacturing facility in Haryana which will become operational by December 2011. It will have a production capacity of 20 million units per annum.

Currently, the company imports handsets from various global manufacturers, including including China's Foxconn.

Talking about the Group's turnover, the Chairman said it hopes to achieve about Rs 800 crore during this year (July-June 2010) which is expected to go up to Rs 1,000 crore during July-June 2011, excluding telecom business.

The Group is already present in real estate and consumer electronics.

Company National Head (sales) Anoop Kumar said the company will have over 1,000 distributors and will reach 50,000 retail points across the country in a month's time. It will spend Rs 70 crore on marketing, Mr Kumar said.

The company claimed to be the country's first brand to introduce the 'Push Mail' service, saying there will be no fixed charges for data apart from the network GPRS charges.

The features of the handsets include high quality camera, video conferencing, dual sim and long battery life. MVL G81 is the flagship product.

Lemon Dual-SIM Android Mobile with 3G Features Launch Soon @ Price Between Rs 3000-4000

Lemon Mobiles, an Indian brand of handsets, promoted by Fastrack Communications, plans to soon launch Android-based dual-SIM phone.

We will be launching Android 1.6 phone in the 'near future', to be called the P1, where the 'P' stands for 'Professional'. It will be the world's first dual SIM Android phone, and will feature push mail, as well as a 400MHz processor, Lemon Mobile's Product Head, Rohit Arora, said.

Refusing to divulge, any further details on P1, Arora, said the company will try to integrate innovative features in most affordable price range.

The handset manufacturer that at present sources its handsets from China, will soon set up a manufacturing unit at Rourkee (Uttaranchal) strategies involve, setting up of a manufacturing plant in Rourkee, where the company will begin with assembling handsets and later start manufacturing cellphones here.

IB Mehra, executive advisor, Fastrack Communications, said, Manufacturing will a value driver.

The company that at present works with 60 super distributors, over 5000 distributors and more than 20000 retailers aims to be among the top five players in two years time, which may not be over-ambitious. The company has designed a three-year game plan of investing $ 300 mn globally, as it plans to expand operations in Latin America and Africa. It will raise the funds through equity.

Lemon is set to launch an application store in 4-6 months. The store will offer a mix of free and paid applications. Lemon's soon to be launched iQ 505 will be preloaded with Lemon Twist, an application suite with a plethora of offerings. Lemon has partnered with various third party developers like Atom for m-Commerce, Mapmyindia for maps on mobile, Sanptu for social networking, Nimbuzz for online chat.

Currently, 300 service centres strong, the company plans to strengthen its services profile. To the requirements of the upcoming technologies, Lemon will also be announcing 3G handsets. These will be entry level 3G handsets, priced at Rs 3000-4000, Sandeep Muhsran, director, Fastrack Communications, said.
